So how many of you keep current on the dealings in Washington DC? It is commonplace to rely on ‘the news’ to stay current on what the media determines we are suppose to know. What does the media neglect to tell us? What actually does the media actually know and how select are they when creating a news segment? The internet is an up to date tool for gaining knowledge on events around the world regardless of size, scope and importance. It takes a skillful yet skeptical reader to dissect information for honesty and accuracy. We have all been victims of spin and exaggeration, myself included.
The challenge is this, look beyond the TV and newspaper media and seek out those events that otherwise would remain hidden. Here is an example: In the late 1950’s, the Federal government tapped on the shoulder of the Greenbrier Resort to explore the notion of creating and eventually constructed a secret emergency housing facility for those select few in DC. What was the emergency? Well there were several, a nuclear holocaust or simply a reply to the Cold War or the Cuban Missile Crisis. For more than 40 years, this housing center remained a secret until the Washington Post in 1992 disclosed “The Bunker’ and its comprehensive purpose as well as the sophistication of all the systems available to exist underground for that select few.
Wow, 40 years the Feds held a secret. What more is being held even today as a secret from the American people by those in the media and in the Federal government? We should shudder to think. We are clearly witness now to backroom deals on Health Care Reform, gerrymandering and quiet funding of bizarre organizations and objectives using TARP dollars and Stimulus monies.
With the population of the United States estimated to be in excess of 300 million people there is an unknown segment of citizens that maintains a proactive work ethic, a sense of community and a family in the purest sense of the word family. So while this unknown segment stays diligent, the balance of the population is doing what, where and why?
